TODAY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION
Increasing clouds, winds and precipitation chances over the next 24 hours.
A strong cold front sweeps across the state. Gusty southwest winds up to 35 MPH are possible this afternoon in Tucson. Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties are under a Wind Advisory from noon until 7 PM, where winds could gust as high as 50 MPH. Patchy blowing dust is possible near the Willcox Playa today.
There is a 20% chance of showers and storms late this afternoon, increasing to 70% tonight through Saturday morning. Areas along and north of a Lukeville-Tucson-Safford line stand the best chance of rain, with 0.10-0.30″ possible. Mt. Lemmon, Mt. Graham and the White Mountains could see a few inches of snow above 7,000 feet by daybreak Saturday.
Highs the next days reach the low to mid 70s. The front exits the state around lunchtime tomorrow with gradual clearing expected during the afternoon hours.
Warmer weather returns early next week. A weaker storm system cranks up the winds Monday as highs approach the low 90s.
