TODAY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION
Not as warm as it could be this afternoon. This weekend is a much different story.
A weak trough supplies partly cloudy skies today. Daytime highs reach the low 90s in Tucson, marking the 16th straight day with below average temperatures. Cloud cover decreases late this afternoon, with mostly clear skies expected overnight. Lows bottom out in the mid 60s by daybreak Thursday.
High pressure expands over the western US heading into the weekend, bringing Ice Break potential. Upper 90s are possible Friday, with Saturday likely seeing the first 100° day of 2015. Saturday’s triple digit odds stand at 63%, while Sunday’s increase to 86% according to the latest model data. The 100s remain in the forecast into early next week with mostly sunny skies.
