TODAY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION

Forecast052815

The first heat wave of 2015 is just a few days away.

High pressure slowly builds in from the Pacific heading into the weekend. As a result, daytime highs reach the mid 90s this afternoon and upper 90s tomorrow. Sunny skies prevail for the rest of the work week.

2015’s first 100° day arrives Saturday, with computer models indicating a 97% chance of hitting triple digits in Tucson. With high pressure parked over southeastern Arizona next week, expect a daily run at triple digits through at least Wednesday.

Long range data indicates a slight chance at a few storms late next week, courtesy of remnant moisture from what will likely become Tropical Storm Andres. It should be noted that there remains considerable differences in the data, including some models that keep southern Arizona dry.
