FORECAST DISCUSSION

HourByHour070815

The low grade Monsoon forecast continues.

Dry air from the southwest is being funneled into the state by a trough off the California coast. There is a 10% chance of a stray storm in Tucson this afternoon, as daytime highs reach triple digits for the 29th time this year. Areas east of Tucson have a 20% chance of storms today.

Expect gusty winds to develop the next few days as the trough moves inland. Southwest winds may gust up to 20-25 MPH this afternoon and tomorrow.

Winds aloft shift to the south this weekend, which may help bring more moisture and better storm chances. Metro Tucson has a 20% chance of storms Saturday through early next week. No significant upswing in storm development is anticipated over the next 7 days.
