Monsoon moisture has returned. Does enough sunshine peek out to get storms popping this afternoon?
Metro Tucson has a 30% chance of storms during the afternoon & early evening hours. Favored areas for storms today will be Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties. Daytime highs reach the 90s across much of southern Arizona. Rain chances drop to 20% overnight as a mid-level disturbance could keep a few storms going.
Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 3 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a low thunderstorm risk.
The isolated flavor of the Monsoon looks to be the call tomorrow through Thursday, with a 20% chance of storms each day. Afternoon high temperatures for the Old Pueblo stay around the 100° mark.
High pressure east of the state could aid in funneling in moisture from Tropical Storm Dolores this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday could see an uptick in storms, with a 40% chance possible.
