FORECAST DISCUSSION

HRRR072015

Lots of heat, but not a lot of storms this week.

A westerly flow aloft gradually dries out the desert. Today features a 10% chance of storms in Tucson as highs reach the upper 90s. Mountains & areas south and east of Tucson stand the best chance of seeing a few storms this afternoon. Storms that develop quickly diminish after sunset.

With the exception of the mountains, most of southern Arizona stays thunder-free tomorrow through Thursday. High pressure begins to build over New Mexico, driving daytime highs into the 100s as early as Tuesday.

Winds aloft shift to the southeast heading into the weekend, drawing in some Monsoon moisture. Isolated storms return to the forecast Friday through the weekend.
