FORECAST DISCUSSION

The Monsoon looks poised to make a little more noise this week.

This afternoon features a slight chance of a stray storm in the metro. For the 38th time this year, Tucson reaches triple digits for daytime highs. The best chance of storms today will be along the International Border & mountains.

Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 1 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a low storm risk.

High pressure slowly increase Monsoon moisture, which interacts with an inverted trough by the middle of the week. Storm chances increase from 20% tomorrow to 40% Wednesday and Thursday. Daytime highs drop below the century mark as the thunder threat rises.

The isolated flavor of the Monsoon & triple digit heat returns heading into the weekend.
