FORECAST DISCUSSION

What does morning clouds & showers mean for storm chances later today?

Despite ample moisture and a mid-level disturbance south of the border, heavy cloud cover this morning may limit storm development this afternoon. There is a 30% chance of storms for southern Arizona, but chances may decrease if clouds hang tough overhead. A few stray storms are possible overnight.

Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 3 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a low storm risk.

A 30% chance of scattered storms remains in the forecast through the first half of the weekend. High pressure builds overhead early next week, decreasing storm chances and bringing triple digit heat back to Tucson.
