Friday’s Tucson Forecast: Scattered storms, blowing dust threat




Today – 40% chance of storms. 100°, west-southwest 10 MPH.

Tonight – Partly cloudy late. 78°, southeast wind 5 MPH.

Tomorrow – 30% chance of storms. 101°, west wind 10 MPH.



An unstable atmosphere & more moisture should lead to a better chance of thunder.

There is a 40% chance of storms this afternoon & evening. Favored areas for storms today appears to be across Pinal, Pima and Santa Cruz Counties. Storms will be capable of locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds & blowing dust along I-10 and I-8. Be aware for the potential of reduced visibility if you’re traveling to Phoenix or San Diego. Morning cloud cover may work against widespread storm development will be. If clouds hang around, the atmosphere won’t be as unstable & may decrease coverage.

Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 5 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a moderate storm risk.

Storm chances decrease this weekend. Saturday features triple digit temps and a 30% chance of thunder. Isolated storms return to the forecast Sunday and Monday. Scattered storm chances may come back late next week.
