Monsoon 2015’s vacation ends this afternoon.

A mid-level disturbance interacts with increasing moisture to develop scattered storms. Tucson stands a 30% chance of storms, mainly between 3-6 PM. Mountains & the International Border are the favored areas for storm development this afternoon. Daytime highs reach triple digits for the 45th time this year today in Tucson.

Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 4/10 for Tucson, indicating a moderate storm risk.

The 30% chance of storms resumes tomorrow, followed by a slight decrease in storm development this weekend. Monsoon moisture steadily increases again early next week, returning scattered storms by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Evening glow from the Finger Rock Fire, taken last night by the talented Diana Madaras. At last check, the fire covered 500 acres & is no threat to structures. We’ll get an update from the Coronado National Forecast on the size/containment numbers later this morning.
