Prime time for storms today looks to be 2-7 PM. Favored areas for thunder will be along and east of a Casa Grande-Sells line. Daytime highs reach the upper 90s before storms reach Metro Tucson. Rain chances decrease from 40% this afternoon to 20% overnight.
Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 5 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a moderate risk of locally heavy rain and 40+ MPH wind gusts.
High pressure moves over southeastern Arizona heading into the weekend. This feature increases temps & shunts most storm development Thursday through Sunday. A low pressure trough approaches from California early next week, bringing back the potential for scattered storms.
