High pressure settles near southeastern Arizona. This feature will suppress storm development heading into the weekend, with only a 30% chance of scattered storms possible today. Highs return to triple digits in Tucson for the 59th time this year. Today’s forecast high calls for 101° at the airport.
Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 3 out of 10, indicating a low storm risk in Tucson.
Storm chances decrease to 20% Friday and Saturday. Scattered storms may return Sunday and Monday, but overall a low grade Monsoon forecast is anticipated over the next 7 days. This is thanks in part to poor positioning of high pressure and a lingering trough near the Pacific coast.
