Storm chances look to be the isolated variety today. Tucson stands a 10% chance of storms, with a 20% chance for areas south of the metro. Daytime highs reach the low to mid 90s in eastern Pima county, running a degree or two below average.
Today’s Monsoon Prediction Index is 1 out of 10 for Tucson, indicating a low storm risk.
High pressure parked over Nevada slides toward the state this weekend, keeping in an isolated storm threat. The best chance for a few storms in Tucson looks to be Sunday and Monday, with each day seeing a 20% chance. High temperatures this weekend peak in the upper 90s.
Models hint at a west coast trough scouring out Monsoon moisture by the middle of next week. Mostly sunny skies prevail for much of southern Arizona as early as Wednesday.
