Triple digit heat is off, but the Sonoran Wind Machine turns on this afternoon.
A trough passing through the southwest cranks up 10-20 MPH west winds. Daytime highs reach the mid to upper 90s in Tucson, running 6-8° above average. Winds should ease after sunset as overnight lows bottom out in the upper 60s.
Winds kick up again this weekend, in advance of a stronger trough moving in from the Pacific Northwest. 20 MPH gusts are possible Saturday and Sunday as highs peak in the 90s. Enough moisture will be in place for a 20% chance of isolated storms Sunday. Monday and Tuesday features a 30% chance of scattered storms, with most activity favoring areas east of Tucson.
Temperatures continue to decrease next week, as Tucson returns to the 80s as early as Monday.
