For the first time in four years…

Jeff Yearly Rainfall_101915

Tucson’s average yearly rainfall sits at 11.59″. As of the morning of October 19th, the yearly rainfall at TIA read 11.75″. One number. Many storylines. Consider this interesting nugget in last night’s forecast discussion by NWS Tucson…

So what’s behind the first above average yearly rainfall total in four years? Three elements.

1) An unusually wet January

2) The influx of tropical systems & their impacts on Monsoon 2015

3) A strong El Niño in the eastern Pacific

The forecast for Winter remains unchanged. We’ll likely add to this total to wrap up the year.
