FORECAST DISCUSSION

A cold start this morning, but warm finish to the week in store.

Dry, cool air settles in behind a departing cold front. Highs today reach the upper 50s to low 60s in Metro Tucson, running 10-15° below average. Lighter winds prevail this afternoon, coming out of the northwest at 5-15 MPH.

Sunshine today gives way to clear skies overnight. Lows bottom out in the mid 30s across the Old Pueblo. Freezing temps are likely by daybreak Wednesday south and east of Tucson.

High pressure emerges from the Pacific for the rest of the week. Temperatures warm up to the low 70s Wednesday & flirt with the 80s Thursday into the weekend. Saturday’s El Tour de Tucson forecast looks splendid, with ample sunshine and highs in the upper 70s.

Long range computer models are starting to indicate unsettled weather early next week, with a possible storm system arriving in time for Thanksgiving travel.

SKY CANDY OF THE DAY

A two-for Tuesday! Thanks Tina for this incredible photo from Willcox yesterday, which I dubbed “American the beautiful”. Greg trekked up the mountain to capture some of the snowy peaks in the Catalinas. Very Ansel Adams-esque. Appreciate the photo Greg!
