The National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for much of Pima & Pinal Counties overnight. This includes Metro Tucson, Oracle & the Tohono O’odham Nation.
A departing cold front leaves behind a frigid air mass. Sunshine and low 50s are on tap this afternoon, with temperatures running up to 15° below average. Overnight lows plummet to the low to mid 20s metrowide under clear skies. Mountains and eastern Cochise County wake up to the teens by daybreak Wednesday. Expect similar temperatures tomorrow night as well, with Hard Freeze Watches in effect again.
Remember the 4 P’s before heading off to bed tonight. Bring in pets, cover tender plants with a sheet or burlap, wrap exposed pipes and check in on people who may not have a warm place to stay.
Models indicate a warming trend by the weekend. High pressure sets up shop over the Four Corners, driving daytime highs into the upper 60s to low 70s as early as Friday.
