There is a 20% chance of rain & snow through late morning. The prime time for Tucson snowflakes appears to be 7-9 AM, when temperatures remain in the mid 30s. Areas north and south of Metro Tucson stand a 30% chance of showers, tapering off by lunchtime. No accumulation is expected for the valley floors, while Mount Lemmon may pick up 1-3″ snow.
Mostly sunny skies prevail this afternoon, as high temps reach the low 50s. Clearing skies and light winds equates to a cold night across the Sonoran Desert. Lows by daybreak Wednesday bottom out in the mid to upper 20s metro-wide.
Temperatures moderate heading into the new year. Low 60s are expected Thursday with mostly sunny skies, with temps dropping to the 40s for New Year’s Eve. Partly cloudy skies prevail New Year’s Day.
Models are indicating at an unsettled pattern taking shape across the southwest early next week. Monday features a 20% chance of showers, possibly by late afternoon. Exact timing and amounts remain unclear this far out.
