Temperatures moderate heading into the new year. Highs today reach the upper 50s under ample sunshine. Freezing temps are possible overnight, with much of Metro Tucson dropping to the low 30s. Low 60s are expected Thursday with mostly sunny skies, with temps in the 40s for New Year’s Eve. Partly cloudy skies prevail New Year’s Day.
Models are indicating at an unsettled pattern taking shape across the southwest early next week. Monday features a 40% chance of showers, possibly by late afternoon. Scattered showers may linger into Tuesday as highs struggle to reach the upper 50s. Exact timing and precipitation amounts remain unclear this far out.
