The Spring preview resumes.
A strong area of high pressure over the western US drives temperatures 14-16° above average today. Metro Tucson reaches the low 80s under sunny skies this afternoon. Winds today will be lighter than yesterday, coming out of the north at 5 MPH.
Record tying heat is possible tomorrow. Tucson’s forecast high of 84° Thursday would match the record set back in 1951. Daytime highs Friday also peak in mid 80s, coming a few degree shy of the record of 86° set in 1988.
Sunshine and 80s continue through the middle of next week. Models indicate a new ridge of high pressure developing off the Pacific coast, keeping much of the west dry. Overnight lows through Tuesday bottom out in the upper 40s to low 50s.
