Afternoon temperatures run roughly 15° cooler than yesterday. Metro Tucson peaks in the low 70s this afternoon under sunny skies. It will be breezy at times, with winds gusting as high as 25 MPH through sunset.
Winds shouldn’t be as strong as Tuesday, but the wildfire threat will be elevated east of Tucson. Portions of Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties are under a Red Flag Warning from 11 AM until 5 PM today. Outdoor burning is not recommended for Safford, Willcox, Douglas and surrounding communities.
The San Pedro River Valley & Sulphur Springs Valley are under a Freeze Warning overnight, as lows drop at or below 32° for several hours. Metro Tucson wakes up to the upper 30s to low 40s tomorrow morning.
80° highs return tomorrow & last into Easter weekend. Breezes may kick back up Saturday, but Easter Sunday features less wind. Models peg a new storm system passing north of the state early next week, which could bring back the breezes.
