The breezes are back.
An approaching cold front cranks westerly winds up to 25 MPH today. Daytime highs reach the upper 80s in Metro Tucson, running 5-7° above average for mid April. Expect mostly sunny skies this afternoon, giving way to clear skies overnight.
Friday features stronger winds, with gusts as high as 40 MPH. These winds combine with low relative humidity to create a high fire danger. For that reason, much of southern Arizona is under a Fire Weather Watch has been issued tomorrow from 11 AM until 8 PM. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
The cold front passes the state Saturday, leaving behind temperatures 7-9° below average. Breezes decrease on Sunday, followed by a strong warming trend early next week. The Old Pueblo flirts with the 90° mark Tuesday and Wednesday.
