High pressure continues to advance toward Arizona. Metro Tucson reaches the low 90s this afternoon as temperatures run 2-4° above average. Scattered high clouds drift in through the day, but ample sunshine is expected.
The triple digit threat begins tomorrow. While metro backyards may reach 100°, Tucson officially tops out at 99°. Odds continue to favor Friday as the 1st triple digit day of 2016. Another 100° day could be on tap for the first half of the weekend.
A developing storm system passes north of the area this weekend and early next week, dropping temps and increasing winds. Mountains near the New Mexico state line could see a few showers Friday through Sunday. Daytime highs peak in the mid to upper 80s as early as Monday, with gusty winds decreasing Tuesday afternoon.
