A rare temperature treat for late May.

Thanks to a departing storm system, highs today run 11-13° below average. Metro Tucson reaches the low 80s this afternoon. Winds today will be much lighter, prevailing out of the west-northwest at 10-15 MPH.

Overnight lows bottom out in the low to mid 50s metrowide.

Temperatures tick upward heading into the Memorial Day weekend. Plan on sunny skies and daytime highs in the low 90s Saturday through Monday. The average high for this time of year is around 95°. Tucson won’t reach that mark until the middle of next week.

Long range models indicate a run at ice-breaking heat late next week. Tucson’s first triple digit day could come as early as next Thursday.
