Tuesday’s Tucson Forecast: Summer’s first significant heat wave days away




Today – Mostly sunny. 93°, west wind 10 MPH.

Tonight – Mostly clear. 64°, south-southeast wind 5 MPH.

Tomorrow – Mostly sunny. 95°, west-northwest wind 10 MPH.



10 straight days with below average daytime highs. We’ll add a few more to the streak before it comes to a screeching halt.

The Old Pueblo peaks in the low 90s today and tomorrow. Mostly sunny skies prevails for the valley floors, while the Sky Islands stand a slight showers chance this afternoon. A low pressure trough swinging through the state could produce isolated showers Wednesday near the New Mexico state line.

Summer’s swelter takes over later this week. High pressure parks over the southwest, providing the first significant heat wave of 2016. Tucson officially reaches 100° for the first time in 2016 on Thursday. Highs Friday into early next week soar to the 105-108° range. Temperatures like this can kill. Do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. In a mere 10 minutes, temperatures inside your car can rise as much as 20°!
