At long last, the proverbial ice on the Santa Cruz River breaks this afternoon.
The Old Pueblo likely sees its first triple digit day of 2016. This would mark the latest “Ice Break” Tucson has recorded since 1998. Today’s forecast high of 102° runs 5° above average for early June. Ample sunshine gives way to clear skies overnight.
High pressure parks over the southwest, blasting the heat this weekend. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect Saturday and Sunday, as Metro Tucson peaks in the 108-113° range. Record breaking temperatures are anticipated Sunday and Monday.
Triple digit temps stick around through the middle of next week. Highs drop to around 104-106° by Tuesday and Wednesday.
