Chasing history heading into the weekend.
Highs this afternoon peak in the 104-108° across Metro Tucson. Today’s forecast high of 107° would match the record set on this date in 2014. It would also mark an early occurrence for the first 105°+ day, which typically arrives around June 12th.
Dangerous heat continues the next 72 hours, as much of the Old Pueblo reaches 110°. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect through Monday. Sunday’s forecast high of 110° would break the old record of 108° set in 1990. Monday’s record of 108° set in 1912 will likely be erased, thanks to a forecast high of 109°.
A storm system passing through northern Arizona brings gusty winds early next week, followed by some heat relief. Highs Tuesday through Thursday drop to the 101-104° range.
