FORECAST DISCUSSION

Monsoon storms take a brief timeout this afternoon.

Mostly sunny skies prevail across much of southern Arizona. For the 54th time in 2016, the Old Pueblo reaches triple digit territory. Mountains stand a slight chance of isolated storms, but valley floors stay dry.

A low pressure trough stalls out near southern California tomorrow, gradually increasing Monsoon moisture. Isolated storms may develop in Tucson Thursday afternoon. Friday through Monday features a better shot at thunder, with metro rain chances at 30%. As moisture increases, temperatures during the daytime hours peak in the mid to upper 90s starting Friday.
