FORECAST DISCUSSION

After record rainfall from Newton’s remnants, the Sonoran Desert trends drier and warmer.

Southwesterly winds aloft gradually decrease moisture in the atmosphere. An isolated shower or two can’t be ruled out this morning, followed by partly cloudy skies this afternoon. Metro Tucson reaches the mid to upper 80s today, running 8-10° below average.

Nighttime lows bottom out in the low 70. Patchy fog is possible in low lying areas around southern Arizona.

After a dry Friday, some Monsoon moisture returns from the south. A few isolated storms may develop Saturday into early next week, with Sunday and Monday featuring the best chance. Daytime highs peak in the mid to upper 90s during this timeframe.
