Friday’s Tucson Forecast: Looming heat, thunder threat

Today – Sunny. 94°, west wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight – Clear. 64°, southeast wind 5 MPH.

Tomorrow – Mostly sunny. 97°, west wind 5-10 MPH.

Temperatures climbing toward triple digits heading into the weekend.

Highs peak in the mid 90s this afternoon. Sunshine today gives way to clear skies overnight, with metro lows bottoming out in the low to mid 60s.

This weekend features afternoon highs making a run at the century mark. Expect mostly sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday. Best bet for triple digit heat appears to be the second half of the weekend. If Tucson hits 100° Sunday, it would mark the 61st triple digit day of 2016.

Models continue to indicate a moisture surge from the south for the upcoming work week. A slight chance of storms is possible Monday through Wednesday. With rain chances returning, daytime highs drop to the low to mid 90s.
