Monday’s Tucson Forecast: Soaring Winter temps

Today – Mostly sunny. 75°, northwest wind 5 MPH.

Tonight – Mostly clear. 46°, southeast wind 5-10 MPH.

Tomorrow – Mostly sunny. 76°, north-northwest wind 5 MPH.

Forget freezing temps. The Old Pueblo’s trending toward historic December heat.

Highs today run 10° above average. Metro Tucson reaches the mid 70s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. High pressure emerges from the west by mid-week, driving daytime highs into the upper 70s to low 80s.

Wednesday’s forecast high of 79° is a degree shy of tying the record in 2010. The record high for Thursday is 81° set in 1969, with the forecast slated to match that mark.

Winter warmth wanes heading into the weekend. An approaching cold front cranks up the winds Friday. Scattered showers develop late Friday afternoon, tapering off early on Saturday. Temperatures crash roughly 15-20° behind the front, as highs struggle to reach the low 60s this weekend. Sunday morning features lows in the 20s and 30s across southern Arizona.
