The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Southern Arizona mountains. This is in effect from 8 PM today until 12 PM Saturday.

Cold front #1 arrives tonight. Showers & snow down to 5,500 feet is expected late tonight through Friday morning. A stronger cold front slams into the state Friday night. This second cold front drops snow levels to 4,000 feet Saturday morning, while showers & a few storms are possible for valley floors. 20-40 MPH southwest wind gusts are possible Friday night.

Blizzard conditions may develop above 7,000 feet Friday night into Saturday. Mount Lemmon, Mount Graham & the White Mountains could receive 20-40″ snow, accompanied by 35+ MPH winds & visibility less than 1/4 mile for more than 3 hours. 5-15″ snow is possible in the southern mountain chains like the Huachucas & Chiricahuas.

Rainfall amounts should end up in the 0.50-1.50″ range for much of the Sonoran Desert between tonight and Saturday afternoon. Models continue to hint at a third cold front Monday and Tuesday, supplying another chance of valley rain & mountain snow.
