Friday’s Tucson Forecast: Warming trend for the weekend

Today – Sunny. 55°, northeast wind 10-15 MPH.

Tonight – Clear. 35°, east wind 5-15 MPH.

Tomorrow – Sunny and breezy. 61°, east wind 10-20 MPH.

Another freeze in the Old Pueblo this morning, but temperatures are climbing over the next several days.

Highs reach the mid 50s under sunny skies this afternoon. Lows overnight won’t be as cold as the last several nights, with much of Metro Tucson bottoming out in the mid 30s. Outlying areas in Tucson may briefly drop to the freezing mark by daybreak Saturday, including Vail, Green Valley and Avra Valley.

This weekend features two dominant weather influences. Helping drive temperatures into the 60s is a dome of high pressure off the California coast. Meanwhile, a low pressure trough stalls out south of the border. This features cranks up gusty east winds up to 20 MPH for Saturday and Sunday.

Eventually, high pressure wins out & surges temperatures into the 70s. Highs next week range from the low 70s Monday to the mid 70s for Groundhog Day. Nighttime lows next week should be in the 40s.
