High pressure just east of the state drives highs 8-10° above average today. Temperatures this afternoon reach the mid 70s under partly cloudy skies. The mercury climbs to the upper 70s this weekend with more sunshine breaking out by Sunday.
Models continue showing a persistent warm pattern next week. After highs top out in the low 70s Tuesday, temperatures threaten the low 80s Thursday. Mostly sunny skies prevail for the upcoming work week.
Temperature the next 7 days are typical for late March, not early February.
