Rewriting the record books to wrap the work week.
An abnormally strong area of high pressure drives temperatures toward late April levels. Today’s forecast high of 87° would shatter the old record of 84° set in 2015. Friday’s forecast high of 89° is three better than the record set in 1951. Mostly sunny skies prevail the next few days.
Mother Nature brings a dose of reality for the weekend.
A cold front enters the state Saturday, kicking up gusty winds. Late Saturday features a 20% chance of showers, increasing to 40% Sunday. Isolated showers may linger into the first half of Monday. It appears the bulk of the shower activity this weekend occurs west of Metro Tucson. Rainfall totals should be in the 0.10-0.30″ range, while Mount Lemmon could pick up a few inches of snow.
Daytime highs drop 20-25° between now and early next week, as Tucson peaks in the mid 60s.
