A weak storm system kicks through the state this afternoon. Metro Tucson stands a 20% chance of rain this afternoon through early this evening. Areas in the White Mountains and along the border stand a better chance of scattered showers & mountain snow. Highs peak in the upper 60s, while lows drop to the upper 40s.
The middle of the work week looks splendid as high pressure parks over the state. Afternoon temps reach the low 70s with ample sunshine.
Models continue showing a formidable Winter storm for the weekend. Friday features increasing clouds and gusty winds. There is a 70% chance of rain Saturday, followed by a 50% chance of showers Sunday. Snow levels drop to 6,000 feet, with 5-10″ snow possible atop Mount Lemmon. Valley rainfall is forecast to be in the 0.30-0.75″ range. These rain/snow totals are subject to change, as the storm system is still several days away.
Rain & mountain snow tapers off Monday. Highs this weekend into early next week struggle to reach the low to mid 60s.
