FORECAST DISCUSSION

Tucson’s average first 90° day typically arrives around April 9th. We’ll be awfully close to beating that date over the next week.

High pressure continues to keep abnormal warmth over Southern Arizona. Afternoon temperatures today through Friday peak in the upper 80s, running roughly 15° above average. Plenty of sunshine is expected during the daytime hours.

This weekend features a slight cool-down as a weak trough kicks through the state. Highs peak in the mid 80s with increasing cloud cover on Sunday.

Long range computer models queue up another high pressure ridge next week. While there is a slight chance of 2017’s first 90° day on Tuesday, the official forecast favors a high of 89°.
