FORECAST DISCUSSION

Warm today, nearing triple digit heat this weekend.

High pressure continues its stranglehold on the Sonoran Desert. Afternoon highs range from the low 90s today to the mid 90s by week’s end. Daytime temperatures run roughly 15° above average for mid April standards.

By the weekend, a strong high pressure ridge parks over the state. This soars the mercury into the upper 90s Sunday afternoon. While Tucson comes within a few degrees of 2017’s first 100° day, Phoenix likely reaches triple digit temperatures Sunday.

Overnight lows through early next week bottom out in the upper 50s to low 60s, which is mild for this time of year.
