Thursday’s Tucson Forecast: High fire danger returns

Today – Partly cloudy, breezy. 91°, west wind 15-25 MPH.

Tonight – Mostly clear. 64°, southeast wind 5-15 MPH.

Tomorrow – Partly cloudy, windy. 88°, west wind 20-30 MPH.

Red flags are back out across the Sonoran Desert.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning today. This is in effect for Southeastern Arizona from 12 PM until 7 PM. Sustained 20+ MPH west winds combine with low relative humidity and dry vegetation to create dangerous wildfire conditions.

All of Southern Arizona will be under a Red Flag Warning tomorrow from 10 AM until 8 PM. Outdoor burning is not recommended the next few days, including backyard barbeques.

Strongest winds develop Friday, with gusts approaching 40-50 MPH in some spots. 20-25 MPH gusts linger into the first half of the weekend as highs only reach the upper 70s.

Next week features much lighter winds and warmer temps. Highs return to the mid 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.
