FORECAST DISCUSSION

Could this afternoon feature 2017’s first 100° reading?

While computer model odds are at 42%, the forecast calls for a daytime high of 100° this afternoon. Not only would this be the 7th earliest Ice Break on record, but it would also be the first time Ice Break has been recorded on May 4th. Tucson’s average first triple digit day of the year falls around May 26th.

Triple digit heat return to the forecast tomorrow. Odds of reaching 100° Friday afternoon sit at a lofty 94%.

A significant pattern change evolves this weekend. Gusty winds and a high fire danger are expected Saturday, followed by a 30% chance of storms Monday and Tuesday. Highs early next week run 25-30° cooler than this afternoon, struggling to reach the mid 70s.
