Monday’s Tucson Forecast: From sizzle to showers (and mountain snow)



Today – 20% chance of showers late, breezy. 74°, southwest wind 15-25 MPH.

Tonight – 50% chance of showers & storms. 54°, southeast wind 5-15 MPH.

Tomorrow – 70% chance of showers & storms, breezy. 69°, southwest wind 10-20 MPH.


A rare unsettled pattern to start the first full week of May.

Spinning near Baja California is a strong storm system. This funnels in enough moisture to trigger a few isolated showers late today. Rain chances range from 20% this afternoon to 50% overnight & 70% on Tuesday. Highs peak in the mid 70s today to the upper 60s Tuesday.

During the nighttime hours, rain changes over to snow around 6,000 feet. Through early Wednesday, Mount Lemmon could pick up 1-3″ snow. Valley rainfall totals should be in the 0.10-0.50″ range for most of Southern Arizona. Gusty winds, rain & mountain snow tapers off early Wednesday.

High pressure builds in late in the week, supplying more typical May weather. Afternoon temperatures return to the 90s as soon as Friday.


The Mulberry Fire, captured early Sunday morning by Lori Grace Bailey. As of Monday morning, the fire’s 65% contained at a size of 1,750 acres. Unfortunately, 4 structures have been lost to the fire.
