FORECAST DISCUSSION

Mother Nature turns back the clock to Winter today.

A strong storm system lifts toward the state from Rocky Point. This triggered scattered storms for the lower elevations & snow above 7,000 feet. Metro Tucson stands a 60% chance of thunder starting early this afternoon, tapering off after dinnertime. Highs today run a stunning 20-25° below average.

While a stray shower may pop up tomorrow, much of Southern Arizona stays dry. Through early Wednesday, Mount Lemmon could pick up 1-3″ snow. Valley rainfall totals should be in the 0.10-0.20″ range for most of Southern Arizona.

High pressure builds in late in the week, supplying more typical May weather. Afternoon temperatures return to the 90s as soon as Friday.
