Gusty winds and a high fire danger for the start of the new work week.

Much of Southern Arizona is under a Red Flag Warning from 11 AM until 7 PM today. Southwest winds up to 30 MPH combine with low relative humidity and dry vegetation to elevate the wildfire threat. Outdoor burning is not recommended today.

Patchy blowing dust is possible this afternoon along I-10 near Picacho Peak and Willcox.

Daytime highs reach the mid 80s today, but drop to the mid 70s tomorrow. This is in response to a cold front that will pass through the state over the next 24 hours. Models indicate a second storm system Wednesday, which locks in gusty winds and keep high temperatures below average. Breezes relax by Thursday.

High pressure begins to regain control of Tucson’s weather by the upcoming weekend. The average high this time of year is 91-92° & it appears those temps will return as soon as Sunday.
