Wednesday’s Tucson Forecast: Awaiting a prolonged triple digit streak

TODAY’S BEAMISH BLOGCAST

THE CLIFF NOTES

Today – Partly cloudy. 98°, southwest wind 10-15 MPH.

Tonight – Mostly clear. 69°, southeast wind 5-10 MPH.

Tomorrow – Mostly sunny. 96°, southwest wind 10 MPH.

FORECAST DISCUSSION

Keeping it under 100°, at least for now.

Partly cloudy skies prevail for Metro Tucson this afternoon. Highs peak in the upper 90s, close to seasonal averages. Enough moisture lingers east of Tucson to trigger isolated storms today. Favored areas include Oracle, Mount Lemmon, Bisbee and points east.

Overall, thunderstorm activity should not be as widespread as yesterday.

A departing trough keeps highs in the mid to upper 90s to round out the work week. More sunshine breaks out as soon as tomorrow & continues through the upcoming weekend.

Triple digit heat returns to the forecast Saturday. Long range computer models indicate the 100s may stick around for much of next week, marking the year’s first heat wave.

Foothills sunset, captured Tuesday by Greg McCown. Gorgeous skies thanks to debris clouds from storms off to the east.
