Wednesday’s Tucson Forecast: Early start to Monsoon storms?

The lunch hour in the Old Pueblo may require the umbrella.

There is a 40% chance of storms in Metro Tucson today. Scattered storms may get an earlier start versus the last few days. Primetime for metro thunder looks to be 11 AM through 3 PM, with storms tapering to the isolated variety by late day.

A few storms may produce locally heavy rainfall. Areas that have been soaked the last week will be especially prone to flash flooding, including Tucson’s southwest side.

Scattered storm chances continue tomorrow, courtesy of a mid-level disturbance currently near El Paso. Rain chances range from 50% Thursday to 40% Friday into the weekend. Daytime highs peak in the mid to upper 90s.

Long range models indicate a downturn in storm development starting next Tuesday, featuring only a 20% chance of storms in Tucson.
