Friday’s Tucson Forecast: Swan song for scattered storms

Today could mark the final time Monsoon 2017 features scattered storms.

There is a 40% chance of storms for Metro Tucson & Southern Arizona during the afternoon & evening hours. Primetime for storms looks to be 2-11 PM. This is in response to high pressure over Southern New Mexico, which is pumping in moisture from the southeast.

Gusty winds, blowing dust and locally heavy rainfall are the primary threats from today’s storms.

Storm development today will be highly dependent on morning cloud cover. The longer debris clouds stick around, the odds for scattered storms may decrease.

Isolated storms may return to the Old Pueblo & points east tomorrow. Dry air wins the battle of the Monsoon next week as highs trend toward the 100s.
