Mother Nature looks to threaten record highs for the weekend.
Supplying temperatures 10-15° above average is a strong dome of high pressure off the California coast. As a result, daytime highs this afternoon through the weekend peak in the mid to upper 70s.
Saturday’s forecast high of 78° matches the old record set in 2006. Sunday’s forecast high of 78° comes within three degrees of tying the record set back in 1912.
Of note, gusty east winds may develop Saturday morning and afternoon. Breezes up to 25 MPH are possible to start the weekend.
Highs for much of next week remain in the 70s, but shy of record levels. Long range models indicate a possible pattern change next weekend, which may drop temperatures. Exact details of this possible pattern change are unclear this far out.
