Wednesday’s Tucson Forecast: Low elevation snow occurring this morning

As expected, low elevation snow developed this morning.

The 4WARN Weather team confirms 1-2″ of snow on the ground early this morning in Oracle. Mount Lemmon has received 6″ snow early this morning, based on webcams around Summerhaven.

Snow levels will continue to crash down to 3,500 feet through the morning hours, with flurries possible for Vail, Corona de Tucson & the upper reaches of the Catalina Foothills. Any snowfall accumulation stays above the 4,000 foot mark.

A Winter Weather Advisory continues through 11 AM for areas above 4,500 feet. 1-2″ snow is possible for places like Oracle, Sierra Vista, Sonoita and Tombstone. Snow totals atop Mount Lemmon may approach 5-9″ through lunchtime.

Metro Tucson can expect a 70% chance of showers through 11 AM, followed by clearing skies. Highs today peak in the mid 50s, running about 15° below average. Overnight lows likely drop at or below the freezing mark outside of Tucson city limits.

A warming trend commences Thursday as high pressure regains control of the weather pattern. Highs range from the low 70s Thursday to the mid 70s Friday and Saturday. Early next week features highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
