A warming trend on tap for the frosty Sonoran Desert.

Sunny skies prevail this afternoon. Highs reach the upper 50s metrowide, which runs 5-7° below average. One more night of freezing temperatures is expected in eastern Pima County. While not as cold as the last few nights, lows drop to the upper 20s to low 30s by daybreak Friday.

High pressure builds over the Grand Canyon state heading into the weekend. This feature is the catalyst behind a strong warming trend, as highs reach the upper 60s Friday & mid 70s Saturday. Mild temperatures should hold serve for the first half of Christmas week.

Models are hinting at an unsettled pattern setting up around Christmas Day. Because this is still a long ways out, it remains unclear how this potential pattern change will impact southern Arizona.
